vannah's imaginary friend and the new old nyquil!

By julie mouser

Okay, boring part first--I get frequent colds--occupational hazard...and the only thing that used to get me to sleep with a stuffy head was nyquil.  Then, they took out the sudafed so it could be sold OTC.  The new stuff did not work at all for me--I need my sudafed to clear out my sinuses.  So, I was at walgreen's yesterday, Nyquil shopping, and saw this stuff "nyquil D" and looked at the ingredients which had sudafed in them!  So I took the little card to the pharmacy and asked if it was the old nyquil and they said it was.  I was seriously jumping up and down and they thought I was a freak....anywho....

Savannah has a new imaginary friend who goes everywhere with us.  Batman.  Yes, the dark knight, the prince of darkness, that batman.  He is her BFF.  Steve has warped her tiny little mind.

And here are some Vann-isms of late:

--playing with her mermaids (she is OBsessed with mermaids right now) she says, "you have blue eyes, you have green eyes."  I asked her what color her eyes are and she replies, "my eyes twinkle like diamonds in the sky..."    so drama...

--she has decided since my nephew was born that she has a baby in her tummy.  She was talking about her baby, and I told her how she used to be a little baby and that she was in my tummy for a long time.  "what happen?"  she said.  I told her that when she grew big enough, she came out.  She asked, "was I a beautiful butterfly?"    (too much eric carle I geuss)

--MIL was being obnoxious when we left and told vann " I love you!" all sappy like.  Vannah said "I love you too" and MIL says, "I love you more" trying to get a response from her.  She ignored her and MIL says it again.  (while I wanted to barf...seriously unneccessary, lady)  Vann thinks for a minute and says, "okay, mawmaw, you love me more." and walks away from her.  I laughed so hard I about peed my pants...

CD 2.  blah.  Steve and I have had fleeting conversations about it at best.  I guess in a weird way as usual I was hoping maybe I would naturally pop up preggers, but alas...sigh...(now who's drama?)  I just don't think it works like that for us.  So now it is mission impossible--talk steve into IUIs.  Duh duh duhduh, duh duh duhduh...  (that's the music--play along with me here...)

School is going great--I've been doing this too long for it to be rocky.  I have a kid who can't write his name and 9 of my kids are officially below grade level in reading.  (out of 18)  And of course, we always have the stat over our head that shows that kids who do not read on grade level by the end of grade 1 never will.  No pressure...gotta love first grade in an urban environment.  (not knocking urban living--just many of our kids went to "daycare" and not any kind of preschool situation.)  We really need to get a preschool started...

happy weekend--and if you live around here--happy fallish weather.  I am wondering what our payback for this mild summer will be this winter...

This is where I get all of the stuff floating around in my brain out.  My thoughts, my frustrations, my vents, my rants, my gushing about my daughter.
